World design day - Rudholm Group

On World Design Day, we’re sharing a closer look at how design works at Rudholm.

Design shapes more than how something looks. It influences materials, development, and how a product comes together.

From the first concept to final production, these decisions affect how a product is made and how it performs.

Designing the details that define a brand

As Alex Heino, Global Design Lead, explains:

“We design the details that make a product yours. We combine trend inspiration and product innovation with custom branding expertise.

By using 3D to visualise the finished result, we reduce the need for constant physical samples, making the design process faster and more accurate for every customer.”

We work closely with brands to develop labels, trims and packaging that reflect their identity. This can include everything from material selection and finishes to how branding is applied across different product categories. Each solution is developed with materials, functionality and production in mind.

Our team turns trend insights into collections that help guide product development.

These collections are not finished solutions. They are a starting point for brands to build from.

They are often developed around upcoming seasons or global drops, helping teams align on direction earlier in the process and prepare for launch.

Using 3D to develop ideas earlier

Traditionally, developing labels, trims and packaging involves multiple rounds of physical sampling, feedback, and revisions.

With 3D modelling, these details can be visualised before a sample is produced.

Designers can explore textures, finishes and variations through digital renders, making it easier to review and refine ideas early in the process.

This helps teams:

  • Make decisions earlier
  • Reduce the number of physical samples
  • Shorten development timelines

For brands using CLO, we can also create labelling and trims that can be applied directly within the software, allowing designs to be reviewed on the garment itself.
