Function started shaping fashion in a different way several years ago.

Performance, utility and adaptability became part of everyday design conversations, not just technical outdoor categories. Garments were expected to do more than look good. They needed to respond to different environments, changing conditions and more flexible ways of living and moving.

That shift became the starting point for ADAPT.

Originally developed as part of Rudholm’s 2021 collection concepts during a period of global uncertainty, ADAPT explored how trims, components and material choices could support a more functional approach to modern wardrobes.

The focus was on modularity, protection and adaptability, while still maintaining clear and considered design.

Rather than treating function and aesthetics as separate ideas, the collection brought them together through trims and components designed for movement, durability and flexibility across conditions.

The ADAPT collection includes:

  • Recycled elastic tape
  • Hook and eye snap fastenings
  • Silicone and rubber labels
  • Reflective labels and zipper pulls
  • Embroidered and suede labels
  • Hanger packaging and hangtags
  • Screwable jeans buttons and rivets
  • Rubber coated buckles

The collection is particularly suited to brands exploring outdoor, utility and performance-led directions, where garments are expected to adapt as much as the people wearing them.

While originally developed in 2021, many of the ideas behind ADAPT still feel relevant today. Function continues to influence how products are designed, worn and experienced across both fashion and performance categories.

For brands revisiting how function and design work together within their collections, ADAPT remains a strong place to start.
